A: We agree that our services aren’t very traditional. We want to focus on the reason we gather, not the way that we gather. The Bible is clear that God’s people met to worship Him through teaching, fellowship, and prayer, with the purpose of being encouraged and built up in the faith. Our services are designed to accomplish those purposes. While we may not be structured in the same way that other churches are, we are indebted to those saints that have gone before us and desire to be faithful to God’s call for us to be “the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15) in our generation and pass it on to the next.
Q: “Your services seem pretty contemporary, are you specifically targeting young people?”
A: No! We are targeting anyone who hungers for more in their life, in their relationship with God, and in their experience with church. While our services are contemporary, we know that a healthy church has a broad diversity of ages so that young and old alike can learn from each other. We are praying for God to bring to us people who have walked with Him for many years, who have a vision for impacting the next generation, even if it means yielding their own style preferences out of love and a desire to be used for effective ministry. We believe that all Christians are called to “show preference to one another” in this way as we minister to each other.
Q: “Why don't you pass an offering plate like most churches?"
A: We completely trust God to provide for ministry that He wants accomplished and recognize that God provides for ministry through the sacrificial and worshipful giving of His people. For those people that are part of the Creekside family, we encourage them to give out of obedience, worship, and dependence upon God and make an offering box available for them. For those that are guests at Creekside, we don't want them to give, but simply receive!
Q: "What programs do you have for children and youth?"
A: On Sunday morning, we value the freedom we have to worship together as a family. That being the case, we welcome people of all ages during our worship time and then dismiss the children for age-appropriate classes at the conclusion of the singing portion of our service. Currently on Sunday morning we offer a Nursery (birth-2) and classes from Preschool through 6th Grade.
We are currently in the process of developing our youth program and are excited to see that unfold with the priorities of discipleship and keeping the youth connected to the church body instead of segregating them from it. If you have any questions, please call our church office at (503) 472-9197.
Q: "What is the best way to become involved in Creekside?"
A: Sunday morning is a great time of celebration, worship, teaching, and fellowship, but we believe that if Creekside is going to be effective in the lives of people that we need to provide opportunities for authentic relationships to develop. We have an expanding small group ministry and would encourage anyone serious about being a part of Creekside to be a part of our small groups.
